The Economics of Waste Emission and Pollution

[Instructor]
HOSODA, Eiji

[Course Guide]
It is now more necessary than ever to provide economic solutions to environmental problems. Increasingly, serious soil and air contamination demand the attention of economic policy makers. To solve these environmental problems, it is now indispensable to consider thinking of the economy as a vascular system, in which production, manufacturing, and consumption represent the arteries, and waste and recycling represent the veins. In The Economics of Waste Emission and Pollution, the basics of theoretical economics will be applied to study the actual realization of these two economic systems and the new kind of balance they call for. A basic knowledge of microeconomics and macroeconomics is necessary to take this course.
