Faculty of Economics

The Department of Economics has been in existence since 1890, when undergraduate degree programs began at Keio. The Department's graduates have played a leading role in Japan's economic development. The Department aims to nurture economists who can function successfully in the increasingly complex and diverse conditions of the global economy of the twenty-first century. As well as studying economics and economic history, students receive a thorough education in other fields, including the humanities and natural science. They are also able to develop their ability in languages other than Japanese so that they can communicate effectively at an international level.

Professional Career Programme (PCP)

The Faculty of Economics has revised its undergraduate program in order to widen the educational opportunities which it offers and thereby encourage even higher student motivation. One of the new elements is the Professional Career Programme (PCP), which has started in April 2005.

Syllabus for the Academic Year 2007

Please note that not all PCP lectures are offered every academic year (AY).  Nor will a given lecture be taught by the same professor(s) each year.
With respect to those lectures that will be given in AY2008, lectures given in the Spring Term of AY2007 are likely to be given in the Spring Term of AY2008, and lectures given in the Autumn Term of AY2007 are likely to be given in the Autumn Term of AY2008.

Lectures given in the Spring Term begin in April and end in July, whilst those given in the Autumn Term begin in September and end in January.  For AY2007, two of the PCP lectures are given intensively during three days in July.
