[Course Guide]
This course will first provide an overview of the history of Chinese immigrants in the United States and the formation of their immigrant communities. The social functions of Chinese voluntary associations and their process of development will then be examined. Class lectures will be based on the analysis of data and information obtained through fieldwork conducted primarily in California.

Classes: Spring-Fall 26
One class per week, each 1.5 hours long
